Willie or William is one of those geldings that’s just easy to have around. He’s been in a good program his entire life, handled correctly, and it shows every time you swing a leg over him. His sire is by Walla Walla Whiz and his dam side is equally strong. He has the pedigree you expect behind a quality reining and ranch horse, but what stands out most is how honest and uncomplicated he is to ride and beautiful he is to look at.
He’s a finished reiner with an NRHA show record and has proven himself to be just as enjoyable and capable in the ranch riding and ranch versatility pen. He will also easily excel in the cowhorse type classes, and he has the size and athletic ability to be heck of a rope horse. Willie is gentle, quiet, and very safe, making him suitable for a wide range of riders. He’s soft in the bridle, smooth through his gaits, and naturally balanced. His spins come easily, his lead changes are correct, and he is a big stopper without needing to be pushed or managed.
We’ve had this gelding around for quite a while and know his full history. He was most recently owned by a close friend of ours and has always been well cared for, which gives us a lot of confidence in representing him. He’s the kind of horse you get on and go—no drama, no surprises.
Outside the arena, Willie is just as dependable. He’s trail safe, traffic safe, comfortable around dogs and kids, and has had a rope swung off of him. He’s seen cattle, has had dogs and children running around him, and is just one of our favorite horses. His ground manners are excellent, and he genuinely enjoys attention. He’s content to pack anybody around quietly, but he’s also more than capable of stepping up and getting the job done when asked.
Physically, he’s a shapey sorrel with a full mane and tail and a pretty way of moving. Mentally, he’s the kind everyone is looking for—steady, kind, and reliable. Willie is the type of gelding that fits a lot of programs and a lot of riders, whether you want a family-safe horse to enjoy every day or one you can confidently take into the NRHA events or reining pen, Ranch Riding, and other western performance arenas. Or just take him home and enjoy him for years to come, but be sure to keep us posted because Annie knows you will love this gelding as much as we have.
